Frequently asked questions

The cost of sponsoring someone varies depending on the project.  Nehemia works very efficiently. Aside from a low proportion of administration costs (under 10%), the sponsorship money is used in full to benefit the project in question.

To pay sponsorship instalments, you can give us direct debit authorization or set up a standing order.

The possibility of exchanging letters with a child is only possible in the case of personal sponsorship and it varies from project to project. Please get in touch with us for more information. Letters should generally be written in the local language and sent to us. We will see to it that they are forwarded as efficiently as possible.

We would ask you to refrain from sending presents in the form of packages or money (in the post) for the following reasons:

    * In many countries, the postal service is very unreliable

    * Non-monetary gifts are subject to the appropriate customs and import regulations

(which can result in considerable costs)

    * No individual child in a project should be “favoured” above the rest

If you would like to help your sponsored child over and above the sponsorship money, you can make a donation, specifying this purpose. This will be forwarded without any deductions and used to benefit all the children involved in the project – including your sponsored child.

A sponsorship can be terminated on your part at any time without needing to state the reason. We would, however, ask you to provide us with written confirmation of this in good time.

Current information about your sponsorship project is provided by means of our magazine and newsletter. At regular intervals we also send newsletters about individual projects.

At the beginning of each year, in February, you will automatically receive a donation receipt to claim your donations against tax (according to German law).

We would therefore ask you to let us know as soon as possible if your address changes. Informing us about other changes in your contact details, such as telephone number, e-mail address or bank details (in the case of direct debit authorization having been granted) will make our work easier.
