It is impossible to even begin to estimate the number of street children. It is said that there are far more than 100 million worldwide.

Poverty, broken families, disease, corruption, godlessness and violence have turned millions of children into orphans. Street children almost inevitably fall victim to abuse and criminality. Unimaginable suffering is involved.

Nehemia helps not only with a school education. Thousands are provided with a meal every day, school fees are paid and the children are given support with their homework. Headteachers ask that pupils be informed about the “looming dangers of the streets” from personal experience. Social schemes with opportunities for playing together peacefully are implemented.

The most comprehensive method is to take street children into homes and allow them to grow up within the context of a family.
