While for many children in Western countries school is a tiresome obligation, children in poor countries see being allowed to go to school as a privilege. A good education is often the only way out of poverty and misery. In many countries (e.g. Albania, Costa Rica, Peru, Nicaragua, Sudan) we have schools where the children, whose attendance is often made possible by sponsors in Germany, are not only taught academic subjects, but also learn values which will help them to cope with life. In many cases our schools do excellently in school comparisons, ranking at the top.
